ATLog Ethical Codex
Ethical principles for the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence and socially assistive robots in speech and language therapy for children and adolescents with communication disorders.
The ATLog Ethical Code is based on the principles of professional responsibility, informed consent, safety, personal data protection and professional oversight. The document addresses the use of artificial intelligence and socially assistive robots in therapeutic activities with children and includes two practical codes – one for developers and one for speech and language therapists.
Informed Consent
Parents or guardians should be informed in advance about the potential risks and benefits and provide consent for the use of new methods and technologies.
Safety and Protection
The use of AI should protect personal data, minimize risks and exclude practices that may cause harm to the child.
Transparency and Fairness
AI systems and therapeutic decisions should be understandable, non-discriminatory and based on objective professional judgment.
Professional Oversight
The socially assistive robot acts as an intermediary in the professional–SAR–child configuration, while the professional retains full control and may stop the session at any time.
